Scott Newton Smith

Scott has been on the road in full-time itinerant ministry, preaching and teaching all over the eastern U.S. and internationally for 12 years.  Scott preaches through SNS Ministries, Inc., the non-profit over which he serves as founder and president.

Scott began preaching at age 16 and was mentored quickly and early (boy, did he need the help!) by caring men who sensed God’s call on his life to preach.

He received his M.Div. from Southeastern Seminary in 1995 and married his (drop-dead gorgeous) wife, Scarlet, in the chapel of said seminary in 1996.  Immediately, they hit the road doing ministry together in churches throughout the country.

Scott is also the proud Dad of an 8 year-old daughter and the tired dog-walker of a Bichon Frise.  When he’s not out preaching or hangin’ wid’da fam, he’s driving.

Joel Southerland

Joel is the pastor of Liberty Baptist Church in Dalton, GA.  He is so into basketball coaching that he made his wife give birth to two players, both girls. His oldest daughter has just signed a college basketball scholarship and his youngest is well on her way. (Athleticism comes from dad – beauty comes from mom!  Nobody is confused about that… all 3 ladies are beautiful.)

Joel has been in ministry nearly 20 years and, believe it or not, he still sees himself as a young guy.  He loves to preach and he loves the pastorate, although occasionally, he’s been known to curl up on the floor in the fetal position and call Scott, begging to switch places with him on the road.  No.  Actually, that was the old Joel.  Now he is a streamlined, ministry-machine who has managed sanity and balance (and genuine joy!) in a growing church.

Currently, Joel is also working on his M.Div. from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary and is finally catching the light at the end of the proverbial tunnel (yesssss!)

He has been married for 20 years this year to his beautiful wife and ministry partner, Sherry.  When he’s not doing ministry, Joel loves reading, sports, travel, and hanging with the family.
